Monsignor Frederick J. Schwertz

Monsignor Frederick J. Schwertz was an interesting person who was admired and respected by both his colleagues and the Catholic community of the Diocese of Wheeling. From 1941-1976, Monsignor Schwertz oversaw the daily business of the Diocese as it’s Chancellor. As long with being Chancellor, Monsignor Schwertz held a variety of positions including Chaplain at the Mount de Chantal Visitation Academy, Diocesan Director of Catholic Charities, and Superintendent of Mount Calvary Cemetery.
